WilkinStyle is a Wilkins Publishing blog specifically dedicated to issues of grammar and style. Our subtitle, Points et traits, is French for dots and dashes, which we feel is a pretty good description of language. It’s accurate without being technical or pretentious.
If you know much about the vibrant English language, then you know that the rules governing its performance are not set in stone. Language is either dynamic or dead. Instead of chiseling out absolute rules, then, WilkinStyle participates in the ongoing discussion about the use and abuse of English from our perspective.
It is a perspective that has been deeply influenced by authors like Erika Lindemann, Robert Bringhurst, and Amy Einsohn; the editors of the Oxford Style Manual, The Chicago Manual of Style, and the American Medical Association Manual of Style; and organizations like the Modern Language Association.
By no means the last word on good writing, WilkinStyle provides comment and commentary on our idea of successful writing. We hope you find it both helpful and entertaining.
